Medlar is grown naturally in the high mountains f-rom 1500 - 2000 m, the average height f-rom 7 - 10m, woody, wide-spreading, the medlar tree grows in a distance. Medlar blossom in spring and harvested in autumn f-rom August to October, grows naturally in many areas such as Bac Yen, Muong La, Thuan Chau districts, Son La province. In recent years, the cognitive effects of medlar is very useful for human health and high economic value. Son La Province has directed and encouraged local businesses to develop new plant, increasing the area and production in the highland district.
In oriental medicine Docynia indica called Medlar. This is a precious herbs can be dried or used fresh, treat in dyspepsia, heartburn, diarrhea, low blood pressure, improve cardiac contractility. Also, Docynia is used for beverage in the summer.
